Local economic development, strengthening of the location through new settlements and the growth perspective of medium-sized companies were the key topics during a visit of the minister for economic affairs of Lower Saxony, Jörg Bode (FDP) to the Industrial Park Walsrode. Together with the member of the state parliament Gudrun Pieper (CDU) Bode addressed representatives of Dow Wolff Cellulosics last weekend.

Mike de Poortere, Site Leader of DWC presented the company and the Industrial Park which merged with Dow at the takeover of the former Wolff Walsrode AG. Mike de Poortere explained to the two politicians the concept of the land use which should win investors from the chemicals sector and plastics processing. Bode was pleased to see that the location was being strengthened and that DWC consequently pursues its (declared) growth strategies. Gudrun Pieper who served as chairperson of the CDU district association of Soltau-Fallingbostel has been following closely the development of the IPW since its founding nine years ago, stressed: “The site has developed very nicely since then”. In the same vein, de Poortere emphasized the important role that DWC plays within Dow. “In Bomlitz Dow has its largest research location in Germany”. Dow wants to expand this position by offering a training program for engineers.
