Plastics processing

The IPW is a dynamic manufacturing location and a forward-looking research center of the plastics processing industry. In 2001 the films division of the former Bayer subsidiary Wolff Walsrode AG was spun off and sold to the Finland-based Wihuri Group.

Today, the affiliated Wipak Group is among the leading European suppliers of high-quality packaging films for the food industry and for medical and technical applications. The IPW has not only become the Wipak Group's largest production site, employing some 600 people, but also accommodates central service and sales departments as well as its R&D facilities.

Epurex Films GmbH is another films manufacturing specialist at the location. A subsidiary of Covestro, Epurex develops and produces high-performance technical films for the automotive and textile industries and for the medical sector.

Since more than 35 years Walsroder Casings GmbH produces plastic casings based on Polyamide. The up to five layer biaxially coextruded casings cover the whole range of cooked and scalded sausage products. The Company has been part of Viskase Companies, Inc., Lombard USA since January 2017.
